SAR Organizations

In my personal opinion the three most captivating and interesting SAR organizations are FEMA, MRA, and the Air Force. FEMA or what can be translated to Federal Emergency Management, is one of my favorites. The organization is most well known as a urban search and rescue team. FEMA is only called in by state authorities if the regional distress disasters are too great for local SAR resources.

The MSA is a specialized SAR organization that is dedicated to saving lives through rescue and mountain education. The organization was established in 1959, and has over 90 government authorized units. The MSA also happens to be the oldest search and rescue association in the United States.

The Air Force is the United States inland search and rescue coordinator, which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The organization covers the ground of Mexico, Canada, and 48 U.S. states, not covering Hawaii and Alaska.

SAR organizations are vital in the way the world runs in efficiency and in safety. Each individual organization has it’s own job and it’s own importance, but to me these three are the most interesting and intriguing SAR organizations.
